Set in the 1820s, The Revenant follows Hugh Glass (DiCaprio), a frontiersman and scout for a fur-trapping expedition. After being brutally mauled by a grizzly bear, Glass is left for dead by members of his own hunting team, led by the ruthless John Fitzgerald (played by Tom Hardy).
Even in 480p, the visual storytelling of cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki shines through. The film was shot entirely using natural light, giving it a gritty, immersive feel that translates well even in standard definition. The sound design, featuring the haunting score by Ryuichi Sakamoto, is equally impactful, making the dual audio experience even more immersive.
