Mexico has a long pharmaceutical history; its first pharmacopeia, published in 1846, was the second in the Americas. Today, the FEUM continues to evolve:

In the mid-1800s, the pharmacies of Mexico City were filled with a chaotic mix of European remedies, indigenous herbs, and experimental tonics. There was no single rulebook.
