The web installer often fails due to DNS issues or server timeouts. All-in-One Convenience:
The installer will appear to "download" files. In a repack, this is actually a local extraction to C:\Windows\Temp\DX*.tmp . It will check dxupdate.cab and install each legacy component sequentially.
