Years later, an apprentice found a folded datasheet in the back of an old drawer. The scrawl that labeled it had been smudged to near-illegibility; only the digits 9e102 remained crisp. The apprentice read the single page and then sat for a long time, as if deciding whether to call it an instruction or a confession. They set the page into a frame and hung it above the workbench.
