The SC8227L is a widely utilized SoC manufactured by Unisoc (formerly Spreadtrum). It is predominantly found in aftermarket Android head units (car stereos) and low-cost tablets. For years, these units shipped with Android 9 (Pie). However, recent market demands for newer APIs and user interfaces have driven manufacturers to release Android 12 iterations for this hardware.

Many people downgrade back to Android 10 (real) because “Android 12” is slower, buggy, and offers no real benefits.

Many 8227L units claiming "Android 12" are actually running Android 10 (API 29) with a modified build.prop to show version 12. True Android 12 is rare on this older 32-bit chip.
